Good News: As part of the Omnibus Budget Bill that passed and was signed into law, Congress has officially declared that tips are the property of workers, NOT employers.

youth in America from trafficking and exploitation
Good News: Congress has finally introduced the Runaway and Homeless Youth Trafficking Prevention Act (S. 2571; H.R. 5339) that will improve services and protections for homeless youth and children.

Goal: Stop a 30% cut to the foreign aid budget
Good News: The budget was passed without
disastrous cuts to foreign aid. It would have meant fewer vaccines, less food and few schools for the world’s poorest people. Also, it makes us safer, creates good jobs here at home, and most of all, it’s just the right thing to do.

Goal: More Humane choices by retailers, specifically phase out crates for pork products
Good News: Trader Joe’s
posted an expanded list of pork products that are now crate free or will be within the next few years. We just made life a little better for the millions of animals raised for food.

Good News: Chile announces dramatic expansion of protected areas in its seas. The action means more than 25% of Chile’s ocean is now
